February 2008
Welcome to The Compass, a new virtual travel magazine. The hardest
part, the beginning, is over. The Art Director and I have spent
numerous hours designing the website with a goal to keep it simple,
yet trendy and sophisticated. We have done our best to give The
Compass a magazine look rather than a blog’s outline.

I would like to thank all the writers who have expressed their
interest and have contributed compelling articles. This would
not have been possible without you! A special Thank You to Mauricio
Osegueda for helping me make sense of the website creation industry
and for assisting me with editing. Thanks to Josephine Cong for
brainstorming the magazine title and slogan with me; and many
thanks to all my friends who participated in the decision making
process of the title. None of the visuals would have been possible
without Vahagn Stepanian. Thank You for your talented web design
skills which have formed The Compass identity.
Now, without further delay, I would like to introduce you to
our first issue of the year.
This month we managed to cover stories from five different continents:
Asia, Europe, Africa, South America and North America. Join the
lively gang of Thai monkeys at the annual Lopbury Festival. Embark
on an unforgettable bus ride through the Andes of Peru. Go skiing
with celebrities. Smoke up after a siesta in Spain, and sip on
fresh tea in the artist’s mecca of Tunisia.
I hope you enjoy reading this issue. Feel free to drop me a line
and share your thoughts on The Compass. Comments, feedback and
new ideas are always welcome.
All the Best,
Lusine Stepanian
